A Pollock-y quote
"Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint you can on it." Danny Kaye

I love Jackson Pollock's art. I find it inspiring because he dared to imagine that art could be something different and that it could mean different things to different people.

My favorite Disney movie

"Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep
moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things... and
curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."Walt Disney
Mangy Eye
I made an appointment with my optometrist and she's not sure what is going on in my eye, but the good news is that I did not scratch it, and that she prescribed me some steroid/antibiotic eye drops to treat whatever is going on in there. The bad news is that she dilated my eye, so now I look kind of freaky and have to wear sunglasses everywhere around light because my eye was already sensitive to the light in the first place. More good news! The eye drops only cost me $5 and after 4 hours and two drops, my eye is already feeling a lot better. Also, I am eternally grateful to Jen for driving to to my appointment, then to pick up my prescription, then to get some lunch. I have been truly blessed with some amazing friends.
Ugh--I really hate being sick on any level.

Okay, so it wasn't so bad.
It was a lot of fun to see everyone again and catch up on what we all did for our four and a half weeks of vacation.
Semester resolution: I will not wait until the last minute to work on everything. I will be organized.

How I feel right now:

maria's photography: Annie Leibovitz
“One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
“Which road do I take?” she asked.
“Where do you want to go?” was his response.
“I don’t know,” Alice answered.
“Then,” said the cat, “it doesn’t matter."
I've been seeing a lot of Alice in Wonderland quotes all over the place lately. Maybe I'll have to pick that up and read it again once I finish Julie.

An unexpected source...

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems
don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end.
Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the
best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity."Gilda Radner

Another Lazy Sunday
Well, that got old pretty quick (okay, so it was 3:30pm), so I met up with Jen at Starbuck's while Karl got his haircut, then we ended up grabbing one of the new Papa Murphy's pizzas (which was really good) and having dinner together at Jen & Karl's beautiful house. : )
I actually feel like I was fairly productive today. I cleaned my bathroom, fixed my bed, changed my sheets, washed my hair, packed my lunch for tomorrow, and even tidied up my room a bit. Not too shabby all things considered. And, I feel about 90% better than I did yesterday. Hopefully tomorrow I will cough my last cough.

So far, I'm loving my new calendar!
Because it reminded me of something that I need to add to my bucket list! Ever since I read the Nancy Drew book where she visits the cliff dwellings, I have wanted to visit and see it for myself. So, I am adding this to my bucket list!Anyone been there or want to go with me? : )

You knew it was coming...New Year's Resolutions
In 2009, I would like to...
1. Lose 30 pounds (many of you seem shocked at this revelation as though I will be "too" skinny. I will not--that is actually my normal, healthy, doctor-approved weight.)
3. Send Birthday cards to my close friends and family members.
8. Get my camera fixed/learn how to use it/take more pictures
10. When I go out to eat, take half of the meal home.
11. Look nice and put together everyday.
12. Visit a new city: Atlanta? : )
What are your New Year's Resolutions?
