I have been a loyal New Balance customer for years, but after analyzing their business practices in a class last semester, and then conducting a strategic audit on Nike (for the same class), I realized that Nike is much more likely to be offering a shoe that I would love. One of my biggest grievances against New Balance is that their shoes are just UGLY and BORING. I really like the Nike iD concept, and I'm thinking about buying these ones which I designed myself : )

UPDATE: I am definitely buying these as I just discovered that I can put my last name on the back of the shoes where the Nike logo would go!

My sister started nursing school today!

I know that she is going to be great : )

So great!

I went grocery shopping last night, and when I got into my car to go home my poor little blue baby just didn't start. I called my sister, who was driving up from my parents' house, and she was able to swing by and pick me up on her way home. She also had class this near my office, so we carpooled which included a stop at Starbucks on the way : )

My dad and I returned to the scene this morning with the car still refusing to start. We called AAA to have it towed to the garage, but the tow guy was so great--he actually got my car started for me! Thank you, Jerry! I have to say, AAA has been so great every time that we've had to use them lately--the guys are always so nice and helpful. He said that we just need to replace the starter because it's 14 years old : ) My dad said that he can fix that himself, so it will probably cost me under $100 including taking him out to lunch to "pay" him for labor!

This is a very disturbing statement which Emanuel made when questioned about single payer healthcare. This is exactly the OPPOSITE of what my parents have taught me over the years. It is all about the means. The way in which you conduct yourself (i.e., your principles) speak volumes more than ending results. No wonder we don't trust our politicians anymore.
